Features of NotesDB
NotesDB allows you to
- export data directly into databases or
- create an SQL stream with all INSERT-statements necessary to export the whole database.
- run automated on a day-by-day basis to allow automated export.
- run only using a Notes client installation.
Database size
NotesDB has no limits regarding database size. So your database can have hundred-thousands of documents and gigabytes of data.
Automatic and optimized table creation
NotesDB will scan all your documents in the database and use this data to size the database tables.
So your database tables will be created depending on the maximum size of data in the document fields.
NotesDB allows to add a buffer percentage so your data will be able to grow further in the RDBMS.
File attachments
File attachments are automatically exported to the local filesystem.
NotesDB creates separate folders for each document and stores all attachments in it.
Also the attachments can also be stored in the database as BLOB columns.
Configurable folder structure
The name of the folders is the DocumentUniqueID by default, but can be configured using a Notes formula. This means
you can use your own unique key for the folder name of each document.
Meta-Information about all attachments
A separate database table provides information on all the attachments contained in each document.
The database table provides details about the attachment:
- filename
- filesize (in bytes)
- date created
- date last accessed
- date last modified
- full path of the attachment
Richtext items
NotesDB allows you to convert all the richtext data into HTML-format and MS Word / RTF / Adobe PDF format easily, without any programming.
NotesDB will extract all documents in the database in HTML format.
Afterwards, you can convert the HTML documents to MS Word/Richtext/PDF format easily.
You can choose whether to store the HTML data in the file system or have it exported into CLOBs automatically.
The HTML documents will include all embedded images, attachment references and any document links.
Even clicking an attachment icon to open the attachment will still work in the file system.
For the conversion to MS Word/Richtext we provide a Word macro.
For the PDF-conversion NotesDB calls an external conversion program automatically.
We'll send you links to free html to pdf converters, which can be used for automatic conversion.
Embedded Objects
NotesDB allows you to extract the Embedded Objects in their original, editable format.
You can extract any MS Word embedded objects as an editable MS Word file.
Supported formats include
- All versions of MS Word (6.0, 2003, 2007)
- All versions of MS Excel (5.0, 97, 2003, 2007).
Additional formats are available on demand.
Anchor links, Document links
NotesDB will scan for all links included in the Notes document:
- anchor links (Hotspot links)
- document links (Doclinks)
- view links
- database links
All links will be stored in a separate table including the reference to the document containing the links.
This makes it easy for you to select e.g. all doclinks in the database and process them.
Folder references
NotesDB can export all the folders a document is contained in.
This enables you to reuse the existing folder infrastructure in the new relational database.
NotesDB does this by searching through all database folders individually.
This means, that this feature is independent of the new "Folder References" feature since R5, which keeps track of the folder references in a separate
document item.
Views & Folders
NotesDB exports the views and folders into separate database tables.
You can select which views to export using a (multi-value) white- and blacklist.
Mail databases
NotesDB will support you with the following output to export your mail database content:
- Document HTML content can be retrieved using a custom URL suffix
- Folder references of documents are exported into the table „folders“
- Nested folders are supported and escaped using the RDBMS specific configuration rules for backslashes
- View & folder content is exported into separate view/folder tables
